In the course of human history many people attempt to become God. Some of them even claimed to be God and their followers treated them accordingly. Also all the founders of the great religions considered themselves as humans who became divine. Except one!

In order to provide salvation to the world God became human through Jesus Christ. The bible says: “When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death and the worst kind of death at that a crucifixion (Philippians 2:6-8).”

No other belief tells us about a God who loved the world so much that He humbled himself and became man in order to save it. Many attempted to become God but only one God became human.

The majority of the people of this planet don’t really question the values of the society they live in. They are part of a big clockwork and they are content with the way life is.

There are others who question society and they talk about corruption and oppression. In their hearts they rebel against everything that ordinary people hold dear. This was the case during the flower power revolution in the late 60′s and early 70′s and this is the case with today’s young people too. They are sick of being a fool of this society. They want to break out and many of them live their lives according to their own philosophy. They are convinced that they found the real freedom – ‘no ones fool anymore’. But is that really true? The fact is that we will always be somebody’s fool. Most of the time we fool ourselves without even realizing it. Just because we refuse to live according to the values of this society does not mean that we are smart now. If we think we don’t need anybody and nobody needs us either, we fool ourselves.

Jesus let himself become a fool in the eyes of this world in order to change it.

He went as far as dying for the whole human race. His attitude was humility and He didn’t consider himself too precious to give His life for you and me. When He hang on that cross the whole society scoffed at Him and threw insults at Him. But He loved society and he invested His life in order to make this world a better place.

Suppose we all would imitate His example and become a blessing for this world. It wouldn’t take long and this society, which we often criticize so hard, would change. It is our God-given call to be a blessing for this world and to invest our lives in order to make it a good place to live.

Back in the days of the garden of Eden humans enjoyed an intimate relationship with God. Through sin, God and man became separated. As water and fire can not go together, the same way it was impossible for a sinful man to have a close relationship with the holy God anymore. Redemption was needed and blood had to be shed. That’s why God sent His only son Jesus into this world in order to die on our behalf. We receive forgiveness only by accepting the fact that we are justified exclusively through Jesus’ sacrifice and not through our own effort or good lifestyle.

Becoming a follower of Jesus means accepting Him to be the Lord of your life. You commit yourself to someone whose intention is always based on love towards you. You step into the relationship you were made for – an intimacy with your creator and your father in heaven.

If you have a longing for God and if you would like to invite Jesus into your heart, you can pray the following words:

“Dear Jesus,
thank you for revealing yourself to me. I am longing for a relationship with you and I would like to get to know you. I am sorry for the sin in my life and I ask you to forgive me. Thank you for dying on the cross on behalf of me. Please come into my heart, I want to follow you. From now on you are the Lord of my life.

Thank you Jesus, Amen”.

Suppose a man builds a custom car and the car breaks down. What do you think, who is the most qualified person to fix it? Most obviously it is the guy who built the car! He knows every single detail of the vehicle. He knows its weaknesses and he knows its abilities and limits.

It is the same with us human beings. We all have our physical, mental and spiritual breakdowns. Along the way of our lives we get hurt and our hearts get broken. Then we try to deal with it ourselves and we soon find out that we are helpless. We look for help in other people but the only thing we really get is unqualified advice or treatment. Very often we attempt to fix the problem by using cheap substitutes instead of getting the genuine parts from the right source (that is what addiction is all about).

God is the creator of life. He is also the designer and creator of you as an individual person. The bible says that you are wonderfully made. Still we face the fact that there is sin in this world which affects our lives in a way described above. That’s why Jesus died at the cross of Calvary. He bear the sin and brokenness of this world when He hang on that cross and he overcame it. That’s why we have access now to our creator in heaven and we can receive the proper healing and restoration for our hearts, bodies and souls. There is no other source for real healing, abundance and happiness than in Jesus who created us.
